Best Tips When Working From Home
I’ve been working from home for the past two years and believe I can offer some damn good advice when it comes to staying organized and focusing on the business building activities that you need to do…
..to get sh*t done!
Here are my three tips for people who are thinking about working from home or are currently working from home.
1. Set office hours.
Take this seriously or you will be stressed the f*ck out and your spouse will be pissed off. Set your office hours to do work. Nothing else. When it’s time to check messages or emails, then focus solely on just that.
When it’s time to create content for your blog, website, or social media…focus only on that.
Not your f*cking Facebook Newsfeed.
Also, make sure that when office hours are over…they are over.
No answering anymore messages or emails. Your next job is to be a good husband or a father. Not constantly looking at how many people double-tapped your Instagram photo.
2. Designate a work area.
This can be anywhere in your home…as long as it’s a place where you can do work. I can’t seem to work at my kitchen table or the couch, but I can crank out some serious work when I’m in my office.
Design your work area so that you can open the door and have an atmosphere that you enjoy being in and doing what you need to do to run an online business from home.
I enjoy a collection of whiskey to spark creativity.
3. Get the F*CK out of the house.
Yes, you can get “Cabin Fever” for spending too much time inside. When your office hours are up, your work is done, get out and DO SOMETHING. Anything.
Get into a dart league with your boys. Go to a “Paint & Sip” wine event with your girls. Whatever you have to do, make sure you remember that it’s good to get out of your house (aka your work building) and go do sh*t.
You’ll appreciate it. Your spouse will appreciate it. Your sanity will appreciate it.
These are some of the tips that I’ve found very helpful from the past two years of working from home with my online job.
